All of our Recovery Chillers are built with safety and reliability in mind. Depending on the version you own, your unit will include one of two built-in safety mechanisms:
- A fuse system (used in earlier models)
- A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) system (used in newer models)
Both are designed to protect your chiller from rare electrical faults or surges and to ensure reliable performance over time.
This help article specifically covers the fuse system used in our earlier chiller models. If your unit features a plug with TEST and RESET buttons, you have the GFCI version. In that case, click here to view the GFCI Feature article.
What is a Fuse System?
A fuse system is a simple yet highly effective electrical safety feature found in many appliances.
At the core of the system is a fuse, a small component that contains a thin wire designed to "break" or burn out if too much electrical current passes through it. When this happens, it automatically cuts off power to the device, preventing potential damage to internal parts.
How the Fuse System Works in Your Chiller
Your Recovery Chiller includes a total of three fuses:
1 active fuse – pre-installed and used during regular operation.
2 spare fuses – included in the packaging as backups.
If the Chiller experiences a power surge, the active fuse is designed to break as a protective measure. This prevents damage to the internal components of the unit and ensures your Chiller’s safety. Once that happens, the fuse will need to be replaced with one of the spare fuses to restore normal function.
In case your Chiller suddenly stops working and you suspect a power surge:
Unplug the Chiller from the power source for safety.
Locate the fuse holder on the unit (refer to your user manual if needed).
Remove the broken fuse and replace it with one of the spare fuses included with your chiller.
Plug the chiller back in and resume normal operation.
In most cases, replacing the fuse will restore functionality. If the issue persists, please reach out to our support team.
