If you notice water leaking from the hose or connector areas on your Nuvio Chiller or Chiller Pro, don’t worry this is usually a simple fix. In almost all cases, leaks are caused by loose or uneven hose connections, not a fault with the chiller itself.
Follow the steps below to ensure your setup is watertight and working as intended.
What You’ll Need
A small screwdriver or wrench (for hose clamps)
Access to hot water (for softening fittings if needed)
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Check the Rubber Gaskets
Make sure the rubber gaskets are seated correctly inside the screw connectors at the ends of your water tubes.
These gaskets are essential for creating a watertight seal between the hose and chiller port.
2. Secure the Hose Connectors
Carefully screw the hose connectors onto the chiller’s ports:
Make sure you’re not cross-threading the fittings.
Tighten them evenly and firmly by hand, they should feel snug and secure!
The connection must be very tight to prevent leaks.
3. Attach the Water Tubes
Check that the water tubes are fully inserted and tightly fitted to the connectors.
If you have metal hose clamps, install them and tighten gently to improve reliability and prevent loosening over time.
4. Test for Leaks
Once everything is secured, fill the system and power on the pump to test for leaks.
If you still notice water escaping from the fittings, it usually means the connectors need to be tightened further.
5. Having Trouble Tightening? Try the Hot Water Method
If the connectors are difficult to screw on tightly:
Unscrew the connectors and remove them from the chiller.
Soak the plastic connectors in hot (not boiling) water for about 10 minutes.
This will soften the plastic slightly, allowing you to screw them on more easily and create a tighter seal when they cool.
As the fittings cool down the plastic naturally contracts, improving the seal and reducing the chance of future leaks.
